Fridays, Saturdays and getting to a weekend

There was quite a fete was happening at last night's De Young Museum Friday nights event. I think we may have walked up only minutes after the lighting of the new Dale Chihuly installation, a 40 ft. yellow neon totem pole smack dab in the middle of the 'Pond of Enchantment,' which set a somewhat surreal stage: I usually go to the De Young when I want to unplug. Hah. God knows what the frogs were thinking. Inside, Von Iva was synth rocking the place out. Watch out for this trio: frontwoman Jillian Iva has got mojo in spades. Nonetheless, due to the jarring acoustics (appealing as the venue is, the de Young is geared toward visual arts and doesn't make a great sound stage) I was seeking quieter refuge after a half hour.
