I was very pleased that Herbie Hancock got one of the top Grammies for his "River: The Joni Letters" amid a night of Amy Winehouse. Winehouse IS an amazing performer and it saddens me big time that she's yet another great woman artist whose life is a complete unsupported disaster zone otherwise. Glad she's cleaning up AND very glad Hancock's effort won out as it's shining light in every way: a great musician (and Buddhist) doing a tribute to another great FEMALE artist, whose managed to go through a storied career gracefully. Yeah.
Liked this quote I saw in a an AP article as well:
"I think Herbie Hancock, hands down," Vince Gill said, "is a better musician than all of us here put together."
