I didn't know it existed, but the August 20-29 event marks the Third Annual Downtown Berkeley MusicFest. The multi-day, multi-venue (everywhere from the Farmer's Market to the Freight), mulit-genre event features a bunch of artists from the Berkeley High Jazz Combo to the West Coast Songwriters Finals to the 'First Annual Jug Band Jubilee' which in of itself looks to be a festival (great singer Maria Muldaur will appear with her Garden of Joy @ the Jubilee). Yes, music is alive and well in the Bay Area.
