Thanksgiving oveseas

"If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, "thank you," that would suffice."
- Meister Eckhart, German theologian, philosopher and mystic.

A lot of the fun of studying yoga in Mysore, India, is meeting other students from all points of the globe. Americans make up a fraction of the student body which is filled and rounded out by practitioners from Australia, Malaysia, England, Canada, Brazil, Norway, Russia...you get the idea. And while Thanksgiving is one of the more American holidays on the calendar, the roots of its spirit—gratitude—resonated with everyone here... and was cause for a potluck to rival all potlucks. There were relatively few Americans at the Thankgiving party on Thursday in India, but lots of giving of thanks. No turkey, but Southern Indian menu staples such as daal, idli, curried pumpkin & rice, AND Slavic pirogi, fresh salads, Australian lamington, apple strudel, fresh bread, chocolate ice cream...you get the idea. Plenty to enjoy and appreciate.
