Slowly

The good thing about NOT going to far away (Santa Cruz is planned for later) on the holiday weekend is Hayes Valley is actually kind of mellow this weekend. A wish for weekend quiet is often quashed when you live in a brunch destination for half the city, and sidewalk tables reach up to your apartment door. This weekend; however, the residents can actually rate a table.
While Burning Man and Sierra Music Fest have claimed many of San Franciscan's, plenty is going on here. To whit: Slow Food Nation and Slow Food Rocks are inhabiting both the Civic Center and Fort Mason, and despite my love of the movement for eating local and sustainably, a beach walk with a friend and a dog, a much-needed Iyengar class and a trip to the grocery took Saturday afternoon off the Slow Food Rocks map. May get there a bit today. In the meantime, you want to know what Slow Food is, do you?:
"Slow Food is a non-profit, eco-gastronomic member-supported organization that was founded in 1989 to counteract fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions and people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the rest of the world."
