reds

"a big gulp is actually made up of many small sips." from the song "Ghetto Zen Master," by Etienne de Rocher

de Rocher's blow-out goodbye to SF party @ Rickshaw Stop was the best show I've been to in a while. He brought up a load of great talent, including Bart Davenport, The Moore Brothers and Sean Hayes for a long night of great music. I had just picked up my ep "Turn It All Red" (soon available on cdbaby) from the cd manufacturers (amidst a work happy hour featuring Red lager) and had a guitar lesson and it felt like school from then on out. Wow. De Rocher is funny and a great musicians and Hayes (unbilled as he's playing with Aimee Mann at Bimbos Sunday and Monday) was in effortless form. Sold out show, happy players and audience made it a feel-good all-around night. Fun, too, to run into Moses and Jake and get sent home with a bottle of Mo's home-made "Poet's Blood Red" wine. Gotta save that for the as yet unplanned CD release party.
