Pirate Cats

Had a great time at Patrick Simms, aka DJ Nylon's inaugural California Music Box broadcat at the newly opened Pirate Cat Radio and Cafe in the heart of the Mission. A few years back, when I lived a block away from the 21st St. local, the building housed a clothing/accessories store. Now it's a modest, donation based cafe and radio studio. It reminded me of the fort/clubhouse I wished for as a kid. With black and white striped and red painted walls, it's a bastion of indie spirt. I played in-the-round with Alex Walsh, Cara Wick and JJ Shultz and all I can say is tune in: http://www.piratecatradio.com/ or go by. Yes, it was a loose show, and evidently one of the channels didn't work, but hopefully the charm of the evening will come through, if not Cara's humor, JJ's cowboy soul, and Alex's per-usual spot on playing .
